Acronym: REACT

Project name: A digital approach to qualifying technicians in Energy Efficiency in Buildings

Total funding: 284 475 €

OBJECTIVES:

The REACT project aims to develop a new Technical Qualification for Energy Efficiency in Buildings, thus contributing to 2030’ energy and climate goals. Based on a need identified by CEDEFOP (European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training, 2018) for medium-level training offers in technical areas. ISQ is at the forefront of professional training, participating in the development of training and assessment materials, aligned with the European Digital Education Action Plan.

Target-groups for this new qualification:

  • Workers in the energy efficiency field who want to update or upgrade their qualification
  • Workers in need to reskill
  • Building maintenance workers
  • Unemployed people

RESULTS:

European Energy Efficiency in Buildings Technician Curriculum

Consisting of the Professional Profile and Competence Matrix, using European tools – EQF 4, Learning Outcomes approach and aligned with the EQAVET quality assurance mechanisms. The curriculum also includes a detailed description of the training structure, contact hours for eLearning (theoretical training) and face-to-face training (Work-based Learning) and external resources.

Innovative digital training materials

Developed through an interactive approach in different digital formats, comprising the four competence units (CU1 Basic of energy efficiency in buildings, UC2 Technologies for energy efficiency in buildings, UC3 Methodologies for the application of energy audits, UC4 Monitoring of Energy Efficiency in Buildings). A set of practical exercises for work-based learning is also under development.

Virtual Game (serious game) for formative assessment

The REACT serious game integrates the eLearning training process, being developed in four parts, each corresponding to a competence unit. The objective of this result is to engage learners in the learning process by earning points in the game while assessing the knowledge already acquired and topics for improvement.

Summative assessment structure and tools

At the end of the competence unit, the trainee will be evaluated through a set of single choice questions and two practical evaluation exercises a WebQuest for each CU.

RPL Scheme and tools

The Recognition of Prior Learning, in non-formal and informal contexts, is a fundamental result for the qualification of professionals with previous work experiences, but without qualifications. As part of the REACT project, an RPL scheme and tools are being developed for validation and testing with professionals in the sector.

REACT guideline for further exploitation

This guideline will also be developed to ensure easy adoption of the previous results, by VET providers.
