The main target group of this project is educational staff from the EWF network, but it is also extended to technical trainers (from the STEM area) in general.

GOALS

– Promote an uptake of an active learning approach by the EWF Education System and technical training in general

– Promote the use of alternative pedagogical approaches by technical trainers and teachers, e.g. using digital resources, problem-based learning and other innovative approaches

– Challenge educators from the STEM field to embed in their own educational resources the development of key competences in trainees

– Foster an entrepreneurial spirit in European citizens, able to research, select, analyse, organise and present information

– Improve the provision of Higher VET, increasing the attractiveness and relevance of VET

– Promote an assessment framework that will help trainers and teachers deal with the challenge of evaluating the different types of lessons proposed in the WELDONE Training of Trainers’ curriculum.

To achieve these objectives, this project entails five Intellectual Outputs:

O1: ToT curriculum

O2: Conceptual Handbook

O3: How to get WELDONE

O4: Assessment methods

O5: Pedagogical guideline for EWF Training System

EXPECTED RESULTS

Innovation fostered by this project lies in the development of competences in education leaders and teaching/training staff – including aspiring new trainers/teachers and those who have been in the profession for a long time – for a change of mindset that requires a way of teaching in which active learning, experiential learning and project work have a main role.

Expected results are:

– STEM educators with flexibility in framing various pedagogical strategies and adaptability to the most diverse themes / contents, as well as in a way in which it maximizes the use of the digital tools and environments available today. Furthermore, delivering training through a variety of different stimuli and using assessment frameworks that help trainers and teachers deal with the challenges that alternative pedagogical approaches introduce in their daily work of preparing the European workforce to a society that is changing in an accelerated pace.

– A set of ideas for trainers and teachers to encourage learners, providing meaningful feedback, and setting students up for success.

Innovative practices in the field of education, training and youth, especially in the STEM field, increasing VET attractiveness.

The WELDONE curriculum, as well as all the supporting materials developed under the project, focus on the following subjects:

  • Multiple intelligences and learning styles
  • Learner centred didactics: Problem based learning, Critical thinking and Collaborative learning.
  • Gamification
  • Digital competence and using digital resources
  • New media didactics: the use of social media, micro-learning
